2019 marks a decade since the inaugural Top 25 list
Canadian Lawyer has released the results of the 2019 Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers list. Click here to read about the winners.
This year, we had lawyers from across Canada pick from among 149 nominees. The survey was open for a month and more than six thousand lawyers voted for who they deemed the most influential in the profession. The Top 25 Most Influential highlights outstanding work done in the last 18 months, whether it be the ability to influence public opinion, earn the respect of their peers or contribute to the strength and quality of legal services. The Top 25 is about recent involvement and impact within the justice community and is not meant to be a lifetime achievement award.
Our winners are split into five areas: Business, including litigation, deals, class actions, etc.; Human Rights, Advocacy and Criminal; Changemakers: leaders, innovators or catalysts; Government/Non-profits/Associations, including academic and the judiciary; and In-house Counsel, lawyers who have made an impact on the profession and society from inside companies and organizations.
Winners included politicians, criminal lawyers, animal-rights lawyers, academics, Indigenous law experts, business-law titans and lawyers with expertise ranging from tech to cannabis.
