B.C. launches two justice system advisory groups

The Ministry of Attorney General of B.C. has created two provincial justice system advisory groups, related to COVID-19 measures imposed by the public health authorities.

These advisory groups will boost the provincial government’s work to keep the justice system running smoothly, to support courts and tribunals and to improve the delivery of services, while the COVID-19 pandemic persists.

The Justice COVID-19 Response Group will facilitate and formalize the discussions covering the issues faced by the court system. These discussions are regularly being conducted among justice system stakeholders such as the courts and the staff at the Ministry of Attorney General.

The Justice COVID-19 Response Group presently has 30 members, but this membership is flexible, with members added or removed as needed.

The second group, the Cross-Jurisdictional Technical Advisory Group, will aid the efforts of the first group and of the government through suggesting appropriate technology-related measures and other solutions, with a view to addressing backlogs and to improving the delivery of services.

The Members of the Cross-Jurisdictional Technical Advisory Group are chairperson Allan Seckel, Tom Cromwell, Cristie Ford, Craig Jones, Julie Macfarlane, Beverley McLachlin, Graham Reynolds, Shannon Salter, Richard Susskind, Katie Sykes, Darin Thompson, Anisa White, Albert Yoon and Carmen Zabarauckas.
