James Petrie is NB Power's new chief legal officer

James Petrie has joined NB Power as chief legal officer. He leaves Plaza Retail REIT where he worked as executive vice-president and chief operating officer for 16 years.

Prior to that, Petrie served as partner at Stewart McKelvey from January 2000 to February 2004, as associate at Petrie Richmond Goss from September 1996 to December 1999 and as articling student at Bennett Jones LLP from June 1995 to August 1996.

Michael Zakuta, president and chief executive officer of Plaza Retail REIT, thanked Petrie for his work with the company. “Jamie has been a valued member of our executive team for many years and has left a lasting mark on Plaza,” Zakuta said in the news release.

Kimberly Strange, who has been promoted to vice-president legal and secretary from her previous role of secretary and corporate counsel, will take on Petrie’s legal position and duties, while incumbent members of the company’s executive team will assume Petrie’s other executive duties.

Zakuta welcomed Strange to the position. “Since she joined Plaza in 2007, Kim has played an important role in many of our significant transactions and initiatives, and I am confident she will continue to do so in the future,” Zakuta said in the news release.

Plaza Retail REIT is a retail property owner and developer and an open-ended real estate investment trust that centres its work in the areas of Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
