Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG)
Chris Roine joined the firm’s Vancouver office as counsel in the Indigenous law and corporate and capital markets groups.
“With his extensive experience in leading negotiations and working with First Nations communities, Chris will be an asset to the firm and our clients,” said Prema Thiele, head of the firm’s corporate and capital markets group.
Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP
The firm welcomed three new partners:

In the firm’s Montreal office, Jean-François Hudon was appointed the new managing partner, while Christian Dufour assumed the new position of managing director.

DuMoulin Black LLP
The Vancouver-based firm announced that Garrett Lee and Gavin Mah have joined, effective Jan. 1. Both Lee and Mah practise in the areas of corporate law, mergers and acquisition law and securities law.
Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP
Lucie Lanctuit joined as a Montreal-based partner in the litigation and dispute resolution practice group.
“Her vast expertise in litigation, both civil and administrative, will be a key advantage for our clients,” said Éric Bédard, managing partner for the Quebec Region.
Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP
The firm has appointed Toronto-based Laurent Massam as the new head of IP litigation and strategy. Martha Savoy, based in Ottawa, and John Coldham, based in London, U.K., became the new leads of the firm’s global trademark, brands and designs group.
Langlois lawyers, LLP
The Quebec-based firm has announced that Tina Hobday has been appointed chairperson of the Québec Regional Council of the Association of Canadian Pension Management for a one-year term that began on Jan. 1. Hobday is a partner who focuses her practice on pension plan litigation and governance.
McCarthy Tétrault LLP
Steeves Bujold, Montreal-based partner and Quebec Region litigation practice leader at McCarthy Tétrault, was named vice president of the Canadian Bar Association for 2021-2022.
