Firms making announcements include Bereskin & Parr, Fasken, KPMG Law, Osler
Welcome to this week’s roundup of movements among major law firms, in which we sum up significant hires, promotions, departures and other announcements.
Bereskin & Parr LLP
Louis-Pierre Gravelle joined the firm as a partner in its Montréal office. Gravelle has knowledge in the areas of high tech and artificial intelligence and has more than 25 years of experience with intellectual properties, especially with patents for emerging technologies, such as quantum technologies and additive manufacturing, said the firm’s news release. Gravelle has also offered advice to clients on medical devices, telecommunications and aerospace.
Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP
The firm welcomed two new partners to its Montreal office: Kristian Zimmerman, a member of the firm’s corporate/commercial group, and Yoni Feingold, a member of its litigation and dispute resolution group.
“Their expertise and knowledge of the legal profession make them valuable resources for our clients and colleagues,” said Éric Bédard, the firm’s managing partner for the Quebec Region, in a news release.
Larissa Svekla also joined the firm as counsel in its real estate group in the Calgary office.
“Larissa’s experience in detailed, multi-party transactions and agreements fits well with our Real Estate Group,” said Clarke Barnes, Calgary managing partner, in a release.
KPMG Law LLP
The firm announced two new appointments in its Toronto office. Salvatore Mirandola is a new partner working in tax law controversy and litigation, while Bobby Wang is GTA leader of the firm’s Asia practice and counsel in the firm’s business law group. Both Mirandola and Wang previously worked for McCarthy Tétrault LLP.
Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP
The firm welcomed back Amanda Heale to the Toronto office as a partner in the firm’s national taxation group.
“Her deep experience and impressive track record will be invaluable in helping us develop innovative solutions to our clients’ most pressing business challenges,” said Monica Biringer, co-chairperson of the national tax group, in a statement.
Churyl Elgart joined as a partner in the firm’s real estate group, in the Calgary office.
“She acts for prominent clients on a range of real estate and development issues, bringing a collaborative approach to finding solutions to the challenges organizations face in today’s business climate,” said Paul Morassutti, chairperson of the firm’s real estate group, in a release.
