Canadian Corporate Counsel Association welcomes new executive committee members

The Canadian Corporate Counsel Association has announced the results of its recent executive committee elections.

In a LinkedIn post, the CCCA revealed that Evan Olson, senior counsel and regional compliance officer for North America at Viterra Canada Inc., has been named as the new vice-chairperson, while Ke-Jia Chong, legal counsel at BroadGrain Commodities Inc., has been appointed treasurer. Their terms will commence on September 1.

Olson’s term will run until August 31, 2022, after which he will serve as the next chairperson and then as past chairperson. As vice-chairperson, he will assist the chairperson and act on their behalf if they are absent. Olson is also the association’s current treasurer.

Chong, meanwhile, will serve a two-year term, ending August 31, 2023. She will be in charge of ensuring the CCCA’s financial health and preparing the executive committee’s financial reports. As part of her role, she will also sit on the Canadian Bar Association’s finance committee.

The new officers will join the current executive committee, which includes chairperson Steve Smyth, past chairperson Margot Spence and secretary and executive director Alexandra Chyczij.

Additionally, nine branch representatives will join the executive committee, appointed by the branches in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.
