Nadia Martel has practised corporate, commercial and tax law
Taiga Motors Inc. has announced the appointment of Nadia Martel, a lawyer with over 25 years of experience in international business, mergers and acquisitions, legal and regulatory affairs, risk management and governance, to its board of directors, effective immediately.
“I am confident that her extensive experience in governance, international business and the powersports industry will be highly beneficial to the Corporation as we continue to execute on our growth and go-to-market strategy,” said Tim Tokarsky, chairperson of the board, in the news release.
Martel is vice-president, corporate development and executive management committee member at Sherweb Inc., one of the biggest cloud service providers in North America, a position in which she was in charge of legal affairs, mergers and acquisitions and the development and management of key business relationships.
Martel has held numerous senior leadership roles at Bombardier Recreational Products Inc.; has acted as vice-president, strategic alliances and business development and vice-president and general counsel at a medical imaging device company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange; and as a lawyer practising corporate, commercial and tax law at firms.
Martel’s experience as a corporate director includes serving on the boards of the Quebec Wildlife Foundation, of the Bishop’s University Foundation, of Bishop’s University, of MiQro Innovation Collaborative Centre and of privately held companies, not-for-profit organisations and public institutions.
Martel earned her LLB from the Université de Sherbrooke and masters’ degrees in taxation and legal theory.
Taiga Motors, established in Canada in 2015, is a motor vehicle startup that develops electrification of off-road powersports vehicles.
The company announced in the same news release the departure of Angela Rowland, who chose to step down from the board to dedicate all her time to her philanthropic commitments.
