Association of Corporate Counsel named top 20 finalist for diversity equity & inclusion award

2022 National Association of Corporate Directors awards honour exemplary DEI board practices

Association of Corporate Counsel named top 20 finalist for diversity equity & inclusion award

The Association of Corporate Counsel is among 20 boards that have been named as finalists for the 2022 National Association of Corporate Directors Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Awards. The awards recognize boards that have improved their governance and created long-term value for stakeholders by implementing forward-thinking diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.

“In order to be successful, a sustainable commitment to DE&I must be woven into the culture of an organization, which is what we’ve worked so hard to accomplish at ACC,” said Mike Madden, 2022 ACC global board chair and general counsel at FutureFeed. “ACC’s board is dedicated to integrating a DE&I focus into our governance and recruitment policies to help ensure it becomes a long-term, sustainable component of current and future ACC boards. We have seen that a diverse, engaged board results in more informed, effective decisions around strategies and that has been essential to offering greater value for our global stakeholders. We are honored to be recognized as a finalist for the 2022 NACD DE&I awards.”

ACC’s application highlights the board’s leadership to help build an organization where diversity and inclusive practices are reflected throughout the association among the board, executive team, and staff. Examples of these policies and practices then help ACC positively impact other legal and local communities through the DE&I efforts of ACC's foundation, chapters, and practice networks.

“The ACC board of directors has really ‘walked the talk’ to serve as an example of how to rethink and infuse a commitment to DE&I into everything we do at ACC, and it’s exciting to serve as both a member of the board and the chief executive of such a diverse, global organization during a time marked by transformational change,” said Veta T. Richardson, president & CEO of ACC. “Today, in every facet of how ACC conducts business, the board of directors, staff, and partners have embraced DE&I as fundamental and that has enabled us to become a stronger, more strategic, higher performing organization. We applaud NACD’s efforts to bring even greater attention to the importance of DE&I leadership and are enthused to be a finalist.”

Winners will be announced on Dec. 7.
