A partner of Chaitons LLP represented the plaintiff in a $230-million case, while Lenczner Slaght, Advocan Law, Minden Gross, Dickinson Wright, and Miller Thomson also made appearances in commercial list matters valued at over $10 million this week.
The week’s most notable commercial case was the $230,563,776 case Bank of Montreal, as Administrative Agent for a Syndicate of Lenders v Unity Health Toronto et al. Here, Chaitons LLP partner Harvey Chaiton advised plaintiff Bank of Montreal. His bankruptcy and insolvency practice focuses on receiverships and corporate restructurings. Unity Health Toronto and four other defendants appeared to be unrepresented.
The next most notable commercial case was the $16.6-million case Ang v Second Closet Incorporated et al. F. Scott Turton, solo practitioner, represented the plaintiff. Lenczner Slaght partner Matthew Lerner advised defendant Second Closet Incorporated, while Advocan Law LLP partner Gabriel Latner acted for Mark Ang Holdings Inc. and one other defendant.
