They were chosen from among 8,900 lawyers and 183 firms
Meritas has elected seven new board members from its roster of over 8,000 lawyers following the global legal alliance’s annual meeting in Chicago last week.
The new directors of Meritas are:
- Drew Dillworth of Stearns Weaver Miller (Florida, USA)
- Esther Dominguez of Marimón Abogados (Barcelona, Spain)
- Amanda Esch of Davis & Canon (Wyoming, USA)
- Matthew Evans of Damon Key Leong Kupchak Hastert (Hawaii, USA)
- Andrew Lambros of Bennett & Philp Lawyers (Brisbane, Australia)
- David Reid of Brazeau Seller Law (Ontario, Canada)
- Philip Wong of Gallant (Central Hong Kong)
Remarking on the new directors’ election, Meritas president Sona Pancholy said: “These lawyers understand the value of a global legal network to meet the needs of their clients and represent the diversity of Meritas’ network. They not only delivery high-quality solutions for their clients through Meritas; they bring unique insights on how our network can best meet changing industry demands.”
Meritas is led by a 21-member board elected to reflect the size and geographic composition of the global legal alliance. Its newest board members – chosen from a selection of around 8,900 lawyers across the 183 market-leading, independent law firms which constitute the Meritas network – will lead the organisation’s strategic plan and oversee its expansion across the globe. They will also be responsible for recruiting new law firms and retaining the world-class standards upheld by Meritas to assure clients and members that they continue to work with the top firms in every market.
The board members will serve for three-year terms.
Meritas’ global alliance of law firms was founded in 1990 to provide borderless legal services to companies looking to capture transnational opportunities or solve multijurisdictional issues. Companies benefit from local knowledge and collective strength when working with its member firms.
Meritas now has member firms in 259 markets worldwide and close to 9,000 collaborative lawyers. Just last month, it welcomed USA-based law firms Perkins Thompson (Maine), Friday, Eldredge and Clark (Arkansas), and Liskow (Louisiana) to its global membership.
