Join the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund at an Evening for Equality

We are proud to announce that Canadian Lawyer is an event partner for the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF)’s annual Equality Day reception. This year’s Evening for Equality will be held on May 30, 2023 at the Shangri-La Toronto to celebrate 38 years of advancing gender equality.

LEAF is a non-profit organization that works to advance gender equality and human rights through litigation, law reform, and education. The annual Equality Day reception is the organization’s largest event that celebrates the important work of advancing equality rights for women, girls, trans, and non-binary people in Canada. The funds raised from the celebration directly support the organization’s litigation, legal education, and law reform work.

As an event partner, Canadian Lawyer is committed to supporting LEAF's mission and celebrating the progress made toward gender equality over the past 38 years. We are honoured to be a part of this important event and to support LEAF’s work.

The evening promises to be a wonderful celebration of progress toward substantive equality under the law, bringing together members of the legal, feminist, academic, activist, corporate and labour communities. Attendees will enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and a chance to network with like-minded individuals who share a passion for and commitment to gender justice.  Jada Shada Hudson, a local drag legend and runner-up on season three of Canada’s Drag Race, will host and perform during what is sure to be a fabulous evening.

We encourage all members of the legal community to attend this important event and show their support for LEAF's critical work. By working together, we can continue to make progress toward a more equitable and just society. Join LEAF on May 30 at the Shangri-La Toronto for an unforgettable evening of celebration, entertainment, networking, and supporting the movement for gender equality.
