Ropes & Gray lawyers will be asked to come in from Mondays to Thursdays
More US BigLaw firms are requiring staff to return to the office, with Ropes & Gray announcing a new policy to be implemented on 6 November, reported the American Bar Association Journal.
The policy calls for lawyers to be in the office from Mondays to Thursdays. They may work at home on Fridays, on the last two weeks of August, Thanksgiving week, and from Christmas Day to New Year’s Day.
Lawyers may also work remotely in the event of doctors’ appointments, meetings for their children, or other sudden events or emergencies.
With the new policy, Ropes & Gray joins BigLaw firms like Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, Davis Polk & Wardwell, and Weil, Gotshal & Manges in instituting a return to office mandate.
According to Law.com, a number of firms had linked bonus levels to in-person office attendance. This also matches initiatives being implemented by those in the banking, technology and real estate sectors.
