Abbott brings vast experience from the financial services sector
International fintech firm GPS Capital Markets has hired seasoned Canadian general counsel Alice Abbott as its first global general counsel.
Based in Toronto, Abbott has been tasked with establishing a legal department and overseeing all legal matters for the firm as it continues to widen its international presence.

Abbott brings over 30 years of in-house legal experience, having worked for a wide range of companies and regulators in the financial services industry in Canada. Most recently, she was chief legal officer and chief compliance officer at crypro-currency company fabriik. Prior to joining fabriik she spent six years as global general counsel at Associated Foreign Exchange (AFEX). Abbott also led legal departments at Jameson Bank and Mercantile Exchange Corporation.
In addition to her vast experience in the foreign exchange industry, Abbott brings specialized knowledge in international law, anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing.
