AGB, Bennett Jones, Kushneryk Morgan, Ross Nasseri, Tyr act in commercial cases involving multimillions
Lawyers from AGB, Babin Bessner Spry, Bennett Jones, Kushneryk Morgan, Ross Nasseri, and Tyr made appearances in commercial list matters with values ranging from $20.5 million to $120 million before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
The week’s most notable commercial suit was the $120-million case Nobul Technologies Inc. v Reed et al. Bennett Jones LLP associate Shaan Tolani represented plaintiff Nobul Technologies Inc. Susan Kushneryk, a Kushneryk Morgan LLP partner who prosecutes securities fraud, advised A. Jacobs and three other defendants. John Adair, founding partner at Adair Goldblatt Bieber LLP, acted for S. McGee and three other defendants.
The two other defendants appeared to be unrepresented. Justin Nasseri, a Ross Nasseri LLP partner who works on commercial and professional liability matters, advised R. McGee and two other defendants to the counterclaim.
The next most notable commercial suit was the $45-million case Yurkovich et al v Citibank Canada et al. Tyr LLP founding partner James Doris acted for R. Yurkovich and one other plaintiff. His areas of experience include shareholder and oppression remedy actions, class actions, securities disputes, insolvency, and competition matters. The two defendants appeared to be unrepresented.
A third notable commercial suit was the $20.5-million case Vaultose Digital Asset Services Inc. v Kunz et al. Babin Bessner Spry LLP associate Daniel Babin advised plaintiff Vaultose Digital Asset Services Inc. He started working as a legal assistant at the firm in 2015 and as a summer student in 2018. The seven defendants appeared to be unrepresented.
