Welcome to this week’s roundup of movements among major law firms, in which we sum up significant hires, promotions, departures, and other announcements.

Aird & Berlis LLP

Aird & Berlis has welcomed partners Joanna L. Pitkin, Michael A. Goldberg, and associate Patrick A. Harris. Pitkin is a registered trademark agent in Canada. Her practice focuses on domestic and international trademark prosecution, including clearance opinions and handling contentious matters such as oppositions and expungement proceedings.

Goldberg has joined the firm as a partner in the tax, estates, and trusts groups. He brings more than 25 years of experience in domestic and international tax planning. He has advised clients on trusts, estate planning and administration, and business succession.

Harris is an estates and trusts litigator. Before joining the firm, Harris worked as an assistant crown attorney and practised estate litigation in the Toronto office of an international law firm. He also worked as counsel and manager of legal research and articled as a judicial law clerk in the Office of the Chief Justice, Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

The firm has welcomed Tyrone Krawetz to its Portage la Prairie office. Krawetz specializes in criminal defence and civil litigation. He has successfully represented clients on various criminal and quasi-criminal offences. He has also assisted clients with wills, estates, and domestic litigation.

Dentons Canada

Paul Ryzuk has joined the firm's litigation, dispute resolution, construction, and infrastructure PPP groups in Edmonton. He brings over two decades of combined legal and technical expertise on complex construction and litigation matters.

The firm has announced that Rajeev Dewan ‎has joined its Toronto office as a ‎partner in the capital ‎markets group, and James Padwick has joined as a partner in the Finance group.  Dewan has acted on behalf of emerging growth companies and ‎entrepreneurs in key growth sectors, including eSports, ‎fintech, healthcare, mining, and ‎technology.

Padwick specializes in banking, secured financing‎, and corporate and ‎commercial transactions. He has advised clients on cross-border transactions, ‎including syndicated, secured, non-secured, domestic, ‎cross-border, revolving, term, asset-based, cash ‎flow, ‎convertible, equity-sweetened, crypto lending, mining ‎finance, and acquisition finance‎.

Koziebrocki Law

Jemeka Bennett joined the firm as an associate in the Toronto office. She specializes in professional regulation and discipline.

Lax O'Sullivan Lisus Gottlieb LLP

The firm has welcomed associates Annency Pang and William Maidment. Pang has articled at a commercial litigation firm, where she gained experience in director and shareholder disputes, defamation matters, and professional negligence. Maidment practised as a litigation associate at a leading national law firm and gained experience in commercial, class action, and competition matters.

McMillan LLP

Tania Boulanger has joined McMillan LLP. She specializes in capital markets and securities.

Primrose Tax Law Inc.

Tax lawyer Primrose Watson has launched Primrose Tax Law, a law firm based in Halifax and accessible to all nine common law provinces.

Segev LLP

The firm has welcomed Kobi Dorenbush, who brings more than two decades of global-facing experience in financial services, investment funds, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate law. Dorenbush's career spanned senior roles with international banks, trust companies, and consulting firms focusing on the financial services industry.
