Four law firms made new announcements

Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP
Blakes has welcomed Mary Jeanne Phelan as a partner in the firm's financial services group in Montreal. Phelan has over 20 years of experience advising clients on banking, financing, securitizations and derivative transactions.

The firm has welcomed associates Jacob Foster and Abigail Choi. Foster has joined the firm as an associate in the insurance, insurance coverage, infrastructure, construction and procurement groups. Foster's broad litigation practice encompasses insurance coverage, construction disputes and litigation, including performance bonds, labour and material payment bonds, and contract price disputes. He is also experienced in class action defence and mass tort litigation.
Abigail Choi has joined the firm as an associate in the commercial real estate law and strata property practice groups. Her commercial real estate practice includes acquisitions, sales and financings, residential retail, office, industrial, and mixed-use developments, and contract drafting and reviews.

Lawson Lundell has welcomed Neil Tichkowsky to its Calgary office as a litigation and dispute resolution group counsel. Tichkowsky's practises civil litigation and employment law, encompassing complex commercial disputes, foreclosure matters, debtor-creditor matters, professional negligence claims, construction disputes, class actions, and judicial review matters.

Lenczner Slaght has welcomed lawyer license processing candidate Doug Chalke. His experience includes defending clients accused of fraud, handling shareholder derivative actions, and representing individuals and business entities being investigated by the government. Chalke also practiced in the New York City office of a leading international law firm, where he represented clients in multiple federal trials, winning favourable results for the clients.
