Roundup of law firm hires, promotions, departures: February 26, 2024 update

Welcome to this week’s roundup of movements among major law firms, in which we sum up significant hires, promotions, departures, and other announcements.

Clark Wilson LLP

The firm has announced the promotion of Shiona Nickel from an articled student to associate with the estates and trusts group.

Fogler Rubinoff LLP

Fogler Rubinoff has welcomed new partners Catherine Francis, Rachel Moses, and Ryan Gelbart. Francis is a partner in the firm’s litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency groups, specializing in corporate or commercial, real estate, banking, and commercial litigation. Moses is a partner in the firm’s litigation group, practising banking and commercial litigation. Gelbart has a broad corporate and commercial practice emphasizing debt finance and private business transactions.

The firm has also welcomed three new associates—Navneet Sandhu (commercial real estate group), Carol Liu (bankruptcy, insolvency and litigation group), and Stephen Skorbinski (business law and financial services group).

Harper Grey LLP

Norm Streu has joined Harper Grey as associate counsel with the firm’s construction law group. She has over 25 years of experience and has been engaged in many of the largest construction projects undertaken in Western Canada.

Loopstra Nixon LLP

The firm has welcomed Matthew Grant as the new head of its securities group. Grant practices corporate and securities law, focusing on transactional matters, including cross-border and domestic private and public M&A. He has worked on strategic alliance transactions, reorganizations and spin-off transactions.

Vani Selvarajah has also joined Loopstra Nixon as a partner and member of the corporate group. She provides legal counsel to clients in various corporate commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate formation and structuring, partnerships and joint ventures, corporate reorganizations and general corporate matters.

Nicole Cianci has joined the firm as an associate and estate litigation practice group member. She practices exclusively in the areas of wills, estates, trusts, powers of attorney, guardianship, and capacity-related litigation.
