Bennett Jones LLP

Bennett Jones has named 12 new partners from its offices across Canada:

  • Nicholas Emter—mergers and acquisitions and private equity
  • Alexander Payne—commercial litigation and class action litigation
  • Benjamin Reingold—intellectual property litigation
  • Matthew Riskin—commercial litigation and employment services
  • Michael Selnes—restructuring and insolvency, health law and commercial litigation
  • Lucas Stevens-Hall—corporate law and mergers and acquisitions

Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG)

BLG has welcomed Suhuyini Abudulai as a partner in the firm’s financial services group. Abudulai’s practice focuses on transactional and regulatory matters in financial services, with particular expertise in Canadian consumer protection laws and the regulation of financial services in Canada. In 2021, she become a certified anti-money laundering specialist (CAMS) — a global qualification recognized as the gold standard in anti-money laundering certifications by institutions, governments and regulators worldwide.

“Suhuyini brings an exceptional level of experience in Canadian consumer protection laws and financial services regulation to BLG,” said Stephen Redican, national head of BLG’s specialized business law group. “She is recognized by clients, peers and key industry players as a leader and changemaker and we are thrilled she is bringing her exceptional experience to add to our robust national team.”

Dentons

Dentons has announced the expansion of its team in Edmonton by adding Tari Hiebert to the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution group. Hiebert’s practice focuses on occupational health and safety (OHS), privacy and data protection, and health and administrative laws. She has represented clients in fatality inquiries before the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner, the College of Physicians and Surgeons, and various other regulatory bodies that govern regulated health professionals in Alberta.

McMillan LLP

McMillan’s Calgary office has recently welcomed Gary Rose, Glen Peterson, Ben Nuttall, and David Fendley as partners, specializing in banking and finance. Meanwhile, Marc Kemerer has joined the firm’s Toronto office as a partner, specializing in municipal land use planning and development. Moreover, Adam Palmer also joined the firm as an associate in the Vancouver office.

MD Lawyers

The firm has welcomed Katelynn De Marco as an associate lawyer in London. De Marco was called to the bar in 2018. She has experience in employment, corporate or commercial, healthcare law, personal injury law and medical malpractice.
